The Importance of the Problem

Duplicate title and description represent a missed opportunity to optimize texts that serve as a source for generating snippets in search results. If description copies the title and does not correspond to the search query for a current page, search engines may change it themselves according to the page text, and it might be inappropriate and unattractive for users. This may decrease the click-through rate of the page in search, thus its traffic.

It usually happens when pages are not optimized yet, and meta description and title content is generated automatically using low-quality templates.

Optimize title and description: they have to be unique (within the site), concisely describe pages content, contain target keywords, and induce users to visit the site.

Optimal title length is from 40 to 79 characters, maximum is up to 140 characters. Optimal description length is from 100 to 160 characters.
