A meta description tag is an essential element of search engine optimization. Its content is often used as the description of a search result, so users could understand the essence of a page better.
Multiple meta description tags usually occur on a page due to mistakes in website settings. Since search robots use only one description, the one they choose might be unoptimized and irrelevant to the page. As a result, the site may lose search traffic.
How to Fix Error
Change website settings so only one <meta name="description" /> tag is displayed in the <head> section of a page.
Create a unique (within the site) description for each page which will concisely describe its content, contain target keywords, and induce users to visit the site. It should be brief and informative: the optimal length is from 100 to 160 characters.
