Error «Canonical Chain» Description
Indicates pages starting a canonical chain (when a canonical URL contains page address that links to another URL in <link rel="canonical" /> or the 'Link: rel="canonical"' HTTP response header) or taking part in it. To view detailed information, open an additional table 'Canonicals' in the 'Database' menu.
The Importance of the Problem
Canonical URL taking part in a canonical chain (e.g. URL 1 → URL 2 → URL 3) and pointing to a canonicalized URL may not be considered by search robot during website crawling. It may cause duplicates on a website, and therefore traffic loss.
How to Fix Error
Set addresses in the <link rel="canonical" /> tag or the 'Link: rel="canonical"' HTTP response header that not are not pointing to other URLs in this tag or header.
To detect URLs taking part in canonical chains, press 'Export' in the program menu → 'Issue reports' → 'Canonical chains' and export the report.
