Importance: High
Error «PageRank: Dead End» Description
Indicates HTML pages that were marked by the internal PageRank algorithm as 'dead ends'. They are the pages that have incoming but no outgoing links, or the last ones are blocked by crawling instructions.
The Importance of the Problem
Internal linking is the most efficient method to show search engines a relative importance of website pages (link weight). If a page has no outgoing links or they are blocked for search robots, it cannot pass link weight to other pages of the site. As a result, due to the 'dead end' pages useful ones may get less link weight, lower rankings, and therefore less traffic.
How to Fix Error
Replace or delete links pointing to unavailable URLs (e.g. due to connection failure, exceeded response timeout, etc.), or the ones returning 4xx and higher HTTP status codes.
Reduce the number of links to internal website pages with the 'nofollow' directive in Meta Robots and X-Robots-Tag.
