Error «Links to Localhost» Description
Shows pages with external links to the 127.0.0.1 address or localhost.
The Importance of the Problem
Localhost is a name reserved for a host of a current computer. It is compliant with an IP address 127.0.0.1. Links to such host are used during the website development and then are replaced with the main host.
Links to localhost addresses may remain after the site was published from a local environment. They are unavailable for users and search engines. Landing on such addresses, users see an error page instead of a desired content that's why they may consider the site low-quality and leave it.
When the site has lots of links to unavailable addresses, search engines may also consider it low-quality and decrease its rankings in search results. Additionally, search robots waste resources on unavailable addresses that's why important pages may lack them and not get into the search index. As a result, the site may lose search traffic.
How to Fix Error
Replace links to the localhost with links with available addresses. To view links to broken pages, press the 'Issue report' button over the main table.
